Vivekanand Education Society's Institute of Technology also known as VESIT or VES Institute of Technology, established in 1984, is one of the premier engineering colleges affiliated with the University of Mumbai. VESIT offers bachelors programs in engineering under the following streams:

Apart from these, VESIT also runs Masters programs, Master of Engineering and Master of Computer Application in affiliation with University of Mumbai.

Contents

Campus

The campus is located in Chembur, a northeastern suburb of Mumbai, and stretches over a few acres of land. VESIT moved to the present campus from its old one (also in Chembur) in December 2010. The institution boasts of state-of-the-art laboratory facilities.

The Institute of Technology shares the campus with the college of Pharmacy and the college for Management and Research. The campus comprises one big C-shaped building, a football field. The engineering college building is five story, each floor is allotted to each of the five departments. Building also comprises a very well managed library, and a canteen.

Biggest events - Praxis (Annual Technical festival), Sphurti (Sports festival) and Utsav (Intra-College Cultural festival). VESIT has chapters of IEEE, Computer Society of India, ISTE and ISA. Societies in VESIT are very highly active, and keep the students engaged in a plethora of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities throughout the year.

Sports

The old campus of VESIT is equipped with a well maintained football ground (as of 2010, the same is being used) (which doubles up as a cricket ground), a basketball court and a volleyball court. Additional facilities for high jump and long jump are also available. Indoor sports like carrom, chess, table tennis are played in the odd semester in college. An annual sports competition is held in this college called as 'Sphurti', where all the student divisions compete in various indoor and outdoor games and competitions. VESIT has been participating in inter college sports festivals organised by various colleges.

VESIT annually organises a technical festival called 'Praxis'. Praxis consists of various technically oriented competitions like Robotics, Gamers Arena (LAN Gaming), Dalal Street (Stock Market Simulation), Open Hardware and Open Software competitions and technical paper presentations. It also organises fun events like the treasure hunt and crystal maze. Praxis-VESIT also publishes a magazine named "Mindspace".

Magazine

VESIT publishes annual magazine named "Vishwakarma" which includes articles, poems written by students, academic and co-curricular achievements of the students.

Technology Day

Every year's Teacher's Day (September 5) is celebrated as Technology Day. On this occasion, technical paper presentations are organised and the best research paper of the college is selected. This is a great fair.

Utsav

VESIT organises a cultural festival every year in Spring, called Utsav. All the classes compete in a wide range of cultural activities to gain points. The final winners decided by the points tally.

Achievements

Robotics

VESIT has participated in Robocon, an annual competition held by Doordarshan, India. It is a national competition with colleges from all over India participating for a chance to participate in the Asia Pacific Competition held by ABU. VESIT has participated in Robocon since it has started and has always been successful in reaching the Quarter Finals of this competition. In Robocon 2004, VESIT won the National Competition and got an opportunity to participate in the Asia Pacific Event to be held at Seoul, South Korea.

Student life

Student life is a vibrant mix of opportunities to excel in sports, music and other spheres of an enriching learning process. With active society work happening there is a complete development of a student and causes his overallenrichment.

Library

The library provides a wide ranging collection of books which include university prescribed text books and reference material. The library staff recently created a digital catalog. The central library also has a reading hall which is open 6 days a week and on Sundays when exams are approaching. The library is open for degree students from 8 am to 6 pm. Besides VESIT also subscribes to a range of digital information, including the IEEE Digital Library
